Proviron blocks globulin and albumin, the enzymes that bind testosterone in the body.
Thus, there is more free (biologically active) testosterone in the bloodstream. This affects sexual performance, and also accelerates some anabolic processes such as protein synthesis.

Widely used by bodybuilders when taking anabolic steroids to suppress the side effects. Proviron is often taken before competitions – the use of this drug gives the muscles volume, stiffness and relief – the muscle mass becomes more lean and of higher quality.

Once in the body, anabolic steroids increase the body’s testosterone levels and decrease the levels of the female hormone, estrogen. Since the male body also needs estrogens, it begins to produce them at an increased rate. However, an externally induced increase in male hormone levels signals that there is no need to produce it. Both of these phenomena, combined with the growth of muscle mass due to taking anabolics, however, lead to the appearance of female characteristics in men, most often breast enlargement (gynecomastia), deposition of fat in areas typical of women, and degeneration of testicles with the suppression of the corresponding functions.

In order to avoid that, to normalize hormonal levels and at the same time to give muscles more relief, athletes taking anabolic steroids take androgens, one of which is Proviron. This drug does not directly increase the production of natural testosterone, but creates the necessary conditions for it. Particularly because of this kind of indirect effect, sports medics consider it non-toxic for the liver. It also does not lead to an increase in blood pressure, which is usually characteristic of drugs of high anabolic activity.

The side effects of taking Proviron are standard for this kind of drugs: increased oiliness of the skin, increased hair growth and acne. However, the most pronounced side effect is a frequent and strong erection. Traditional medicine does not recommend healthy men to use Proviron in any form and indicates cases of diseases caused by it (including cancer) of the prostate gland and liver, as well as internal bleeding. Therefore, when taking the drug, it is recommended to pay special attention to the sensations in the upper abdomen. By laboratory methods, mesterolone, the active ingredient of Proviron, is detected within two months after the end of taking it. It is contraindicated for women and is not recommended for boys under 16 years of age.
